Actually, it isn't a Galaxie 500, but rather a FAIRLANE 500...The director must have switched the nameplate on the rear quarter panel just so they could get the reference to Dean Wareham's former band.
I compared the car in this video to actual 1968 Galaxies which looked completely different (especially the dashboard). Fairlanes also were a bit shorter than Galaxies.

I'm from northern England, the industrial north, and grew up on the finest underground music. I was upset, in '87, when Johhny left The Smiths. But G500 and Wareham operate in a slightly different Universe. Thanks, great stuff. Brings a tear to my eye. Where did everyone go?
